Good morning to all my peeps in 100 Calorie Land!  What a great week this is turning out to be!  Hey, do you know what I like?  Great recipes!  I have a blast converting recipes into 100 calorie recipes and meals.  It’s really easy to do and you can do it too!  Simply use The 100 Calorie Food Counter to look up your recipe’s ingredients.  I have a wonderful recipe for Swiss Steak for you that I got from my mom and turned it into a 100 calorie recipe.  Enjoy!

Mom’s Swiss Steak

1 1/2 Teaspoons Olive Oil - 50 Calories

22 1/2 Oz. Any Beef Steak Trimmed to 0 Fat, Cut Into Serving Size Pieces - 1500 Calories

3 Large Onions, Chopped - FREE

1 Large Green Pepper - FREE

2- 16 oz. Cans of Whole Tomatoes - FREE

2- 6 oz. Cans of Tomato Sauce - FREE

1-6 oz. Can Tomato Paste - FREE

1 Tablespoon Sugar - 50 Calories

1 Tablespoon Vinegar - FREE

Salt, Pepper and Garlic To Taste - FREE

4 Cups Cooked Rice - 800 Calories

1. Place olive oil in a large heavy skillet, add steak and sear on high.

2. Add onions and green pepper, lower heat to medium and sautee 5-8 minutes or until the onions are translucent.

3. Add the remaining ingredients and stir well.

4. Turn to medium low, cover and cook for about 1 hour or until meat is tender.  Stir occasionally.

Makes Four 600 Calorie Servings of Yummy Comfort Food Goodness.
