Success Tool #4 – Enjoy The Things In Life That Don’t Involve Food
There is so much of life that is pleasurable that doesn’t even involve food. Part of your weight problem could be that what you “do” is eat. You plan your days around food, you plan your outings around food, you plan your dates around food. Make a list of activities you enjoy that don’t revolve around food. This list is yours so make sure the list is what you like to do, not what someone else thinks you should do. Start incorporating these non-food activities into your everyday life. Following are some examples:
* Reading
* Listening to music
* Playing with the kids
* Swimming
* Fishing
* Boating
* Hiking
* Dancing
* Going to the movies
* Playing board games
* Doing puzzles
Success Tool #5 – De-Stress Your Life
Overeating is a symptom of stress. If you turn to food to relieve stress you need to De-Stress. Make a list of the following De-Stressors. Keep the list in your purse or wallet and read it whenever you feel stressed.
* Maintain a positive attitude.
* Think about all the good things in your life and be thankful.
* Clear out all that clutter in your home and/or office and get organized.
* Be happy for what you have instead of dwelling on what you don’t have.
* Stop the turmoil in your mind and let go of past failures and hurts.
* Say yes only to those things you really want to do.
* Get a massage.
* Live your life one day at a time.
* Enjoy the moment.
* Hire a housekeeper.
* Buy a relaxation tape to learn how to relax.
* Take a money management class and don’t live beyond your means.
* Get enough quality sleep. Buy a high quality mattress and pillow.
* Work in a career you love.
* Plan a spa day.
* Form quality relationships and surround yourself with encouraging, positive people.
* Take a vacation.
